Growth to Meet Resident Need
Oh, The Places We’ll Go, Together
The recent growth of our Resident Services Team means APAH can provide more support and expanded programs and opportunities to APAH residents. As a result, more residents in more properties are benefiting from one-on-one interactions. More residents are participating in our activities, completing applications for rental assistance and other services, and building relationships with APAH staff. Growing the Resident Services Team is essential to serve APAH residents in a comprehensive way.
During the summer APAH added three new Resident Services Coordinators to be consistently on site at APAH’s largest communities–Arlington Mill, Gilliam Place, and Queens Court—to support residents and programs at these sites. Collectively, these new coordinators serve 544 households at those properties alone! The new coordinators helped make this summer’s family-oriented block parties successful and have facilitated expanded programming for residents. In September, we held block parties for Columbia Hills & Columbia Grove, Arna Valley View, and Marbella, which also included residents from Courthouse Crossing and Parc Rosslyn. All three events were great successes and enabled residents from these properties to enjoy food, gather with their neighbors, and learn about the abundance of programs and opportunities available for residents.
For example, 40 girls have registered for APAH’s Girls on the Run teams, with many registrations occurring during the block parties. Weekly meal distributions increased from La Cocina, a nonprofit partner that creates socioeconomic change in low-income communities. Beginning on September 9, La Cocina delivers approximately 200 meals weekly across Arlington Mill, Columbia Hills & Columbia Grove, The Springs, Gilliam Place, and Queens Court.
In September, the Resident Services Team also welcomed Volunteer Coordinator Jacquelyn Keys. The Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that APAH has an organized and committed group of volunteers who can assist with initiatives that support residents. These staff additions will allow the team to become stronger and more dynamic as it serves APAH’s growing portfolio.
