APAH Hosts Celebration of Arna Valley View Apartments on April 10, 2014
101 apartments preserved for long-term affordability
Arlington, VA (April 7, 2014) — The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) announces a celebration to mark APAH’s purchase of Arna Valley View Apartments on Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm.
APAH purchased the 101-unit Arna Valley Apartments on February 28, 2014, preserving the rich cultural and ethnically diverse Arna Valley committed affordable community for generations to come. Built in 2001, this 2.1 acre property includes three four-story buildings, central parking structure, community room, business center, tot lot and picnic area.
APAH will be preserving family-size apartments that are affordable to very low income Arlingtonians. Two thirds of Arna Valley View apartments are family-size with 25 two bedroom and 40 three-bedroom units. The property is 100% committed affordable with one-third of the apartments affordable to individuals and families earning less than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI); one-third affordable to those earning less than 50% of AMI; and one third affordable to those earning 45% of AMI. These are some of the lowest priced rental units in the County’s committed affordable portfolio — affordable to households earning between $30,000 and $64,000 a year.
Speaking at this event will be Arlington County Board Member Walter Tejada; APAH Board Chair Robert Rozen; The Reverend Leonard Hamlin, Macedonia Baptist Church; Mary Rouleau, Executive Director, Alliance for Housing Solutions, and APAH President/CEO Nina Janopaul.
