AFAC at Gilliam Place 2022

Gilliam Place became Arlington Food Assistance Center’s (AFAC) newest distribution location, and the fourth to take place onsite at an APAH property, joining Columbia Hills/ Columbia Grove, Marbella, and the Springs. We’re elated that this partnership will serve more families – already more than 500 households receive AFAC grocery distributions, addressing food security across the portfolio.

Our Stomping Ground, Arlington Presbyterian Church, and APAH worked together to bring AFAC to the property. The residents have expressed their gratitude, saying it is so much more convenient for them to get the food they need now, since distributions occurring at their apartment building eliminates the time and transportation barriers associated with being required to travel to AFAC’s main location. The first day, 27 families came downstairs to the Gilliam Place community room to get their groceries. It was great to collaborate with so many incredible volunteers and organizations to serve Gilliam Place residents.
